Flawless sailing conditions and a thrilling tactical duel defined Leg 3 of the Seychelles Challenge today, with Team Knot So Fast, Just Furious, skippered by Tony Norris, ultimately claiming top honours after corrected times were applied.
The race began with a prompt downwind start off the picturesque Anse Lazio. With winds at a steady 15 knots, gusting up to 25, the fleet jostled for position on the line. While most competitors managed a clean start, Robbie Dove’s Beneteau Oceanis Clipper 36 was caught over the line early and received an unfortunate On Course Side (OCS) penalty.
The downwind run to Booby Island featured a fascinating strategic split: Team Tourism Seychelles and Team Knot So Fast, Just Furious took opposite jibes, parting ways on the turquoise water before converging again at the island. Team Tourism Seychelles, skippered by Gilbert Victor, skilfully played the shifts to round the mark first, with Tony Norris hot on their transom.
From there, the fleet enjoyed a fast fetch to the eastern side of Curieuse Island. The final leg to the finish was a true test of skill, with a challenging upwind beat against the freshening breeze to the finish line off the picturesque Cote D’Or beach.
All in all, a day marked by good wind, flat water, and big smiles from The Seychelles Challenge competitors.
