Day 6 Race Report: Team Knot Fast, Just Furious Conquers High Winds to Win Final Race of Seychelles Challenge

Team Knot Fast, Just Furious has triumphed in a thrilling conclusion to the Seychelles Challenge, claiming line honours and the overall win in today’s final race.

In today’s leg – the ABSA Challenge – the fleet battled brisk conditions with winds gusting up to 28 knots for a spectacular finish to a fantastic week of sailing.

The final day came on the heels of the resolution of an unprecedented situation from Friday’s race between La Digue and Mahe, when confusion over two separate ‘#1’ markers led two skippers to an incorrect finish line. A redress application was granted by race officials, and a velocity prediction programme was used to recalculate the finish times for the two affected boats. The corrected results for Day 5 were then officially posted as:
1. Team Bikinis & Bowlines (Justin Clohessy)
2. Team Tourism Seychelles (Gilbert Victor)
3. Team #wheresal (Andre Joubert & Belinda Dickson)

Meanwhile, today’s ABSA Challenge course challenged the sailors with an 11-nautical-mile leg from the south side of St. Anne Island to Brisaire Rocks and back to a finish on the north side of the island. The strong winds demanded exceptional skill and endurance, with Team Knot Fast, Just Furious proving dominant. They were followed across the line by Team Bikinis & Bowlines in second place and Team Tourism Seychelles in third.

Adding to the spectacle, the final day also saw the Fareast 28R fleet join the regatta to complete the final race of their series, in which The Love Boat took top honours.
